Toward sustainable corporate social responsibility

Traditionally, Corporate Social Responsibility refers to business practice involving corporate’s legal, ethical, and philanthropic (charitable) responsibility. Both CSR and sustainability understand the context that community and environment where business operates is crucial part for a business’ success. However, CSR does not necessarily encompass sustainability.
Sustainability, on the other hand, concerning preserving resources and operating in a way for long term period. It’s a day-to-day practice by a company taking into account the needs of our future generation.
Nowadays many companies are participating in various forms of CSR activities, most of which easily end up with fixing a short-term problems instead of fixing a long-term issues. It is a big challenge for a company to practice a sustainable CSR.
Based on its principle, E-Land Group practices its CSR with sincerity and sustainability. E-Land CSR strives to promote the management philosophy of, “Sharing, Rightness, Growth, Serving” by contributing total 10 percent of net profit back to society. On Saipan, E-Land is taking a leading role to solve the regional environmental problems and to make a sustainable environment for our future generation.
For instance, the Unai Dankulu Beach Park, located at the Coral Ocean Golf Resort in Koblerville Village has been a continuous effort by E-Land Group in the recent years. On July 2, E-Land has signed an agreement to additionally install BBQ pits and benches at the park. Also, the newly established restroom would be opened to the public on July 21.
One special thing is that it was the staff’s efforts maintaining the beach park cleanliness. The staff are actively participating in beach cleanups to preserve the nature and the environment of CNMI.
E-Land will put more efforts on its CSR activities to build a sustainable environment for the people of CNMI, including public facility improvements and staff volunteer programs. In addition, E-Land will continually practice its CSR focusing on environmental issues associating with the local schools in which students will learn environmental campaign and will develop their responsibility toward environmental sustainability.
