Tsingtao’s Jandoc, Ariar take MVP honors

Tsingtao Boyz’s Peter Ariar and Jetzen Jandoc were named most valuable players in the 2019 One Pacific Promotional Basketball League last Sunday at the Civic Center Court.
Jandoc was awarded the regular season MVP trophy for his outstanding play in the elimination round, while Ariar took the Finals MVP after stepping up in the second half of their 74-71 title win over Connie’s BBQ. Ariar registered all his 14 points in the final 20 minutes of play in the championship game, while Jandoc top-scored for Tsingtao with his 16 markers and was also the main gunner of the team in the regular season.
Jandoc made it to the Mythical Team, too, joining Pardz Ballers’ Jose Torres, Mawati’s Franklin Ferrer and Raymond Velasco, and Connie’s BBQ’s Joel Danao on the selection.
In other awards, Connie’s BBQ’s Patrick Morales was handed the Best in 3-point Shootout trophy, while Tsingtao’s Joboy Agbanlog took the Best Coach plum. Docomo Pacific’s Jacquelyn Ocaya got the Best Muse trophy, while the Best Sportsmanship award was given to Gilas Batang.
Meanwhile, league organizers handed a plaque of appreciation to the representatives of the participants in the inaugural tournament: Connie’s BBQ, Docomo Pacific, Gilas Batang, IT&E Dark, IT&E Light, Light and Salt, Mawati, Max’s Restaurant, Pardz Ballers, RNV Construction, Saipan Adventure, and Tsingtao Boyz.
