Alex Tudela topped the Saipan Golfers Association November Ace of the Month Tournament held at the Marianas Country Club early this month.

Tudela shot a net 70 for a four-stroke win over Nick Sablan. The 9-handicapper Tudela fired a 43 and 36 on the front and back nines, respectively, for a gross 79. Sablan, on the other hand, had pair of 39s for a 78, and deducting his 4 handicap, he ended up with a net 74, just one shot ahead of third placer Steve Balakrishna. The 11-handicapper Balakrishna posted a 45 in the first nine holes and a 41 in the last for a gross 86 and net 75.

Tudela’s victory this month was highlighted by two closest to the pins shots on No. 8 and 12. Other closest to the pin winners were James Whang and Larry Guerrero on No. 6 and 16, respectively.

In the longest drive category, the winners were Frances Sablan on No. 2 and Rick Kautz on No. 18.

With Tudela’s triumph, he now qualifies for the SGA Ace of Aces Tournament, joining other finalists Frances Sablan (January), John “Nanni” Cruz (February), Juan Lizama (March), Nick Sablan (April), Larry Deleon Guerrero (May), Das Krishnan (June), Steve Balakrishna (July), Joe Demapan (August), Frank Castro (September), and Juan “Pan” Guerrero (October).

The two-round SGA Ace of Aces will be held at the Kingfisher Golf Links on Dec. 23 with Round 1’s tee time set for 9am and Round 2 at 1pm.
