U17 Kanoa teams bust through spring opener

Kanoa Football Club in the boys and girls U17 division busted through the starting gates in the season opener of the TakeCare NMIFA Youth Spring League 2023 as they defeated their respective foes last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Kanoa boys defeated Matansa FC, 7-1, while Kanoa girls ran the game against Southern United FC, 5-2.
Tyler Omelau found the back of the net two minutes in and doubled it four minutes later for an early 2-0 game against Matansa. Sean Gil then attempted a goal which stuck for a productive first half for Kanoa.
The only goal for Matansa was made by Wataru Kadokura in the 30th minute mark, then Kanoa’s Leland Deleon Guerrero, Paul Lizama, and Markus Toves blitzed the goal for the 7-1 win.
The girls, on the other hand, were led by Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez, who bum-rushed her way through the pitch for four back-to-back goals. Teammate Aubrey Castro scored the fifth goal before SUFC’s Pia Newakl and Summer Manahane scored their team’s only two

Shirley’s Football Club won against MP United Football Club, 4-2.
MP United’s Serin Chung drew first blood in the 10th minute and scored another in the 18th minute for an early 2-0 lead.
However, Shirley’s Addalee Taflinger got a hold on the ball after 20 quiet minutes on their end, followed by Stacy Arriola’s goal in the 27th for a tie 2-2 game.
MP United were stopped in their tracks as the lead and W was taken from them by Alyssa Borlongan’s goals in the 38th and 42nd minute.

Tan Holdings Football Club slipped past MP United Football Club, 2-1.
Isiah Hossain of Tan Holdings found the net early in the 2nd minute, but Ian Song tied up the game in the 15th minute and the rest of the first half came and went with crickets chirping in the background.
Then in the 34th minute, Anthony Bergancia kicked the tie-breaker which eventually held for the final score.
