UFO’s upcoming events in 2016
The United Filipino Organization has already lined up several events for 2016 to provide entertainment and service to the community.
UFO president Bong Malasarte said the first event, if plans push through, is Pusong Pinoy, set to be held on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, Sunday.
They are on the lookout for major sponsors in helping them organize the Valentine’s Day event that in past years featured performances by bands, dancers, and solo entertainers, as well as beauty pageants and cooking contests.
“We’re still looking for major sponsors and will be asking some that will help us hold this event for the community,” said Malasarte.
The Palarong Pinoy is also in the pipeline, with basketball one of the games that will be played.
The group is already planning for its activities and program for the June 12 Philippine Independence Day celebration, highlighted by the Pistang Pinoy.
They will also again join the Fourth of July float competition and at the same time hold the 2016 Paskong Pinoy.
Malasarte said they are also planning to have the Civic Center basketball and tennis courts in Susupe lighted so the public can use it again.
He again thanked all the sponsors and volunteers who supported this year’s Paskong Pinoy, held last Sunday at the Marianas Business Plaza grounds in Susupe. The event was co-sponsored by IT&E and LBC.
“Thank you again to all who watched and joined us in the festivities. Without the volunteers and sponsors we won’t have a successful event,” added Malasarte.
Deal or No Deal contestant Mary Ann Jardin took home $650 after she stuck with her chosen briefcase, No. 8. It was mistakenly reported Tuesday that she decided to accept the banker’s offer.
Jardin reached the final round, with two briefcases left—the one she chose and No. 26 that had $50.
Ruel Nava won the Christmas lantern-making contest for the third straight time while the Umang Glee Club topped the choral competition and Matthew Rolly Alla was the champion in the solo singing contest.
