CNMI authorities will be blowing up World War II-era bombs and other munitions at the Marpi Blow Pit today, March 14, between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. This means that the Marpi Road, as well as the Marpi Landfill, Banzai Cliff, Suicide Cliff, and Grotto, will be close for the duration of this operation.
The general location of this activity will be at Marpi Blow Pit within 500 feet radius on all quadrants to 2,500 feet above sea level.
Due to the danger imposed by these activities, the CNMI Emergency Operation Center – State Warning Point is strongly advising the public to stay away from these areas during the time and date indicated.
This activity is being done with the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services and the HydroGeologic Munitions Team.
