Seman resigns as HSEM special assistant
Marvin Seman, who led Saipan’s recovery and restoration efforts as chief of the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, has resigned as HSEM’s special assistant.
Press secretary Ivan Blanco confirmed Seman’s resignation with Saipan Tribune last Friday.
Blanco said Seman tendered his resignation just last Thursday, citing personal reasons.
In a follow-up press release, it stated that Seman resigned “to tend to immediate family matters.”
His resignation will be effective on Friday, Dec. 11.
“I accepted special assistant Seman’s resignation to allow him the opportunity to tend to the immediate needs of his family. I have also asked that he remain onboard until Jan. 11 to ensure the smooth transition for the acting special assistant for homeland,” acting governor Ralph DLG Torres said.
“During this transition period, I have also asked special assistant Seman to serve in other capacities that the administration deems his special skills can be utilized,” he added.
Seman was appointed special assistant to HSEM in 2010 to take over the restructuring of the former Emergency Management Office.
According to the Inos administration, Seman modernized the buildings, emergency response capabilities, and ensured the highest level of training was provided to each of his emergency response team members.
The administration also noted that there were many emergency cases where Seman responded alongside first responders in a timely and professional manner.
“Without a doubt, he has a track record of unwavering leadership in times of emergencies and conflicts,” it added.
