CUC: Nothing to worry about ‘milky water’

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. assured yesterday that there is no cause to worry about “milky water” coming out of the faucet in As Lito and Koblerville as this is only dissolved air that will dissipate.

CUC deputy executive director William Gilmore said the white cloudy element in the water is dissolved air that has been infused into the water from an open air source.

“There is no need for concern since the air will dissipate in a few minutes,” Gilmore said.

He gave the explanation after Rep. Ed Propst (Ind-Saipan) posted a video of the water in his Facebook account early this week.

Propst said the “murky, milky water” is coming out of CUC pipes in As Lito along Halle Place and has reportedly has been like this since last month when CUC switched pipes.

Gilmore said CUC will be looking to locate the source of the air intrusion so that it can be eliminated.

He said CUC has been doing a significant amount of work in this area to both improve pressures and to extend the service period as supply levels improve. (Ferdie de la Torre)
