CEC to finalize designation of polls for early voting
The polling place for early voting on Rota will no longer be at the Department of Public Safety, while the polling place for early voting on Tinian may also likely not be at DPS.
Commonwealth Election Commission administrative officer Kayla Igitol, in an interview with Saipan Tribune yesterday, disclosed that the designated polling place for early voting on Rota is the Northern Marianas College instructional site.
Igitol said Rota DPS cannot accommodate the polling place as they don’t have spare room for early voting.
She said it is likely the same case will happen on Tinian for early voting, but that they don’t have the final decision yet.
Early voting on Rota and Tinian were done at DPS on both islands in past elections.
Early voting for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will commence on Oct. 30.
Igitol said the designation for polling places for the three islands will be on Oct. 22.
She said the CEC board will finalize the polling places at their meeting on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 1:30pm, at the CEC’s conference room in Susupe.
Igitol said everyone is welcome to attend the meeting to voice their concerns.
