Marianas Visitors Authority board chair Marian Aldan-Pierce has appointed MVA deputy managing director Judy C. Torres as acting managing director, effective today, Tuesday.

Christopher Concepcion’s resignation as MVA managing director became effective last Friday.

Since Torres is off-island, MVA community project manager Martin Duenas served as acting managing director yesterday.

Concepcion turned in his resignation last March 12. He became the managing director in April 2016.

Concepcion said he will start his new job in the next couple of months.

“I need a break,” he said, without elaborating.

During his tenure with MVA, Concepcion and his team managed to accomplish several major projects, including securing direct air service from Japan via Skymark Airlines Inc.

A source said Concepcion may still be working with the government that deals with tourism revitalization project.

Another source said the Torres administration is looking at either of two persons who are frontrunners to be the next managing director.
