Read-Aloud with Motheread/Fatheread tomorrow
The CNMI’s longest-serving literacy program, Motheread/Fatheread, will be having a Special Read-Aloud and Story Exploring Class at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library tomorrow, Aug. 24, from 10am to 11:30am.
National trainers and literary specialists Evelyn Machtinger and Gwendolyn Hinton will facilitate the class, using a curriculum designed for use with children up to 11 years old.
The community-based program teaches both parent and children to have fun learning as they develop reading skills through children’s literature. The program also allows for the exploration of family issues.
Aside from the special class on Saturday, the library is also calling on all book lovers to check out their newly catalogued books, which include travel guidebooks, spiritual books, and new McNaughton fiction books.
Motheread/Fatheread is a nationally acclaimed community-based program administered in the CNMI by the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, in partnership with the CNMI Public School System and the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.
