Rollers Blue, Baby Ol’Aces win

The Baby Ol’Aces and Rollers Blue triumphed in their opening games in the Rollers 2020 Holiday Tournament at the Koblerville Gymnasium over the weekend.
The Baby Ol’Aces hammered Rollers Red last Sunday, 48-16, while Rollers Blue topped the Lady Ol’Aces in last Saturday’s game, 26-18.
Alliyah Fernandez, Rosie Saralu, and Angel Roligat teamed up in the Baby Ol’Aces’ lopsided victory, combining for more than half of the winning team’s total output. Fernandez scored 9 points, while Saralu and Roligat chipped in 8 markers apiece.
Sedrei Camacho, Leani Acosta, Raena Romano, Aleai Santos, Paulynn Joyce, and Kina Rangamar also played for the Baby Ol’Aces and made at least one basket each to contribute to the team’s easy win.
The Baby Ol’Aces built a 24-6 halftime edge and never looked back from thereon, as coach John Santos drew points from every player he fielded in the one-sided match.

Rollers Blue fell behind early and never made headway in the second half with only Marianne Cayetano delivering more than two baskets for the losing squad. He finished the match with 9 markers. Gia Hemley added 3 points, while Jenny Lee and Tasilyn Ramon scored 2 points apiece.
In last Saturday’s game, Rollers Blue played better in the second half to beat the Lady Ol’Aces.
Rollers Blue was behind at the break, 6-9, but took the driver’s seat in the final half, with Jan Travilla, Irish Pagarao, and Chevy Alipio producing baskets for the team. Travilla, who was held to a deuce in the first half, scored 7 in the second, while Pagarao also had 7 markers. Alipio chipped in 6.
Joy Pena, Jamila Alegre, A.J. Garon, Hemley, Kaia Travilla, Marlene Lumabi, and Fiona Bucalig are also on Rollers Blue’s roster.
Cassanda Camacho paced the Lady Ol’Aces with her 7 points, while Taz Deleon Guerrero recorded 6 markers. Lia Rangamar, Jaime Pangelinan, Desrei and Sedrei Camacho, Halle Kenty, Sylvana Simran, Antonette Labausa, Joyce, and Fernandez complete the Lady Ol’Aces’ roster. The Ol’Aces combined their players and Rollers did the same to form four teams in the women’s division.

The Lady Ol’Aces played their second game last night against Rollers Red and were ahead at halftime, 12-4. The final scores were unavailable at press time.
Meanwhile, this year’s holiday hoops organized by the Rollers Basketball Club also featured games in the boys U13, U17, and U19 divisions.
Rollers Red and Rollers Blue are vying for the U13 title, while Rollers Blue, Rollers Red, CT Titans, and the Ol’Aces are entered in the boys U17 division. Rollers Blue, Sun Palace, K Rollers, and the Ol’Aces are competing in the boys U19 category.
Video footage of the various games are shown on Rollers’ Facebook page, as fans are not allowed at the Koblerville Gymnasium because organizers are implementing safety measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.
