Rep. Celina R. Babauta (D-Saipan) has postponed the scheduled meeting today, Wednesday, of the House Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee.

Babauta, who chairs the committee, said yesterday that she cancelled the meeting out of respect for representative Ivan A. Blanco (R-Saipan), who just passed away.

She put flowers Monday on Blanco’s table in the House chamber.

Wednesday’s meeting is postponed until further notice. The JGO chair told Saipan Tribune yesterday that there is no schedule yet on the continuation of the JGO hearing into Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ travels and expenses.

Blanco, 45, passed away last Friday. Many described him as a leader, statesman, a true diplomat, and a dedicated public servant.
