- TOP SPELLERS Congratulations and welcome back to Sean Troy Mateo and Maverick Lo Yamanaka, who were the representatives of the Northern Marianas International School at the recently concluded 2022 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee Competition held at the Tiyan High School in Guam last Saturday, March 12, 2022. With Mateo as the Primary Speller and Yamanaka as the Alternate Speller, the two were accompanied by their proud parents and William “Bill” Matson in Guam. After competing with 39 other students from the CNMI and Guam, Mateo won first runner up honors. Thank you, NMIS family for the full support and thank you, CNMI-PSS, for the opportunity. - LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT DONOR Atkins Kroll Saipan presents Saipan Red Cross with $10,000 as a Lifetime Achievement donor for the first annual Red Cross Gala, which will be held April 23 at the Kensington Hotel Saipan. “We are extremely grateful for the generous humanitarian efforts Red Cross provides to our community,” said Atkins Kroll Saipan vice president and general manager Joel Lesh. “Our island has seen many disasters and Red Cross and their volunteers always find a way to come to our aid.” This comes as Atkins Kroll celebrates its 55th anniversary this month. “We continue to live by our tagline, here for Saipan, here for life,” said Lesh. “We are grateful to call Saipan home and look forward to serving our island for many years to come.” Follow their Facebook page for various fun activities throughout the year.
