Palacios, Maratita lead three categories

Eric Palacios from the Man Amigos leads two batting categories, while Audie Maratita from Sufa remains the batting leader as of Nov. 13 in the men’s division of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League held every Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.

Hard-hitting Palacios swung 14 balls out of the park to lead the home run race, while he also leads the division with the most runs batted in with 47.

Maratita. on the other hand, is still the batting leader of the division with 36 hits out of 50 at bats for an average of .720. The big slugger is tied in second place with Mike Techur right behind Palacios with 13 home runs. Dominic Hideo and Jeff Cruz are behind them with 12, followed by Pete Sablan with 11, and Paul Salalila with 10.

Behind Maratita in the batting leaders category is Mark Toves with 28 hits out of 39 at bats for a .718 average. In third place is pitcher Dominic Hideo with 37 hits out of 53 at bats for an average of .698.

Right behind Palacios in the RBI category is Jeff Cruz with 43, Dominic Hideo with 42, J.J Laniyo with 41, Maratita with 37, Mike Techur and Ton Pangelinan with 33, John Taitano with 31, and Paul Salalila with 30.

The most runs scored is 34 made by Clint Quitugua, 33 by Jeff Cruz, 32 by John Terlaje and Paul Salalila, 31 from Dominic Hideo, and 30 from Lefty Shiro.

Tim Wesley leads the doubles category with 13, followed by John Taitano’s 10, Jun Lizama and Maratita’s nine, and Cartfield Sablan, Lefty Shiro, Greg Magofna, and J.J Laniyo’s seven each.

Lefty Shiro leads the hard to hit triples category with six, followed by Ben Mesa and Mike Tomokane with five each, Eric Palacios and John Taitano with four each, and Derek Sasamoto, Jaimi Reyes, Mark Villagomez, and Suo Matsutaro with three each.

Over in the backbone of defense which are the pitchers, Joe Celis of Hagu La’mun is the leading pitcher with 10 games, 53.2 innings pitched, 34 earned runs, 131 hits against him, a 7-3 win-loss record, and 4.47 earned run average. Second to him is the aforementioned Palacios with 11 games, 65 innings pitched, 52 earned runs, 117 hits against him, an 8-3 win-loss record, and a 5.60 earned run average. Third is Dominic Hideo with 17 games played, a 9-8 win-loss card, 103.1 innings pitched, 93 earned runs, 232 hits against him, and an earned run average of 6.31.

The strikeout king is still Hideo with 40 strikeouts followed by Tom Camacho with 29, Ken Kaipat with 27, George David with 26, Leo Bobai with 24, Joe Celis with 23, and Eric Palacios with 22.
