Portion of Garapan road will be temporarily closed

The construction phase of the sewer replacement project on Royal Palm Avenue and Ginger Avenue within the hotel district of Garapan will soon start, which means a portion of the road will be closed for more than two months during work hours.
A Commonwealth Utilities Corp. news release yesterday stated that its contractor, RNV Construction, has received approval from the Department of Public Safety and Department of Public Works to initiate road restrictions in the area.
It will be necessary for RNV to close both Royal Palm Avenue and Ginger Avenue from Palm Street to Micro Beach Road in order to complete the project. Roads will be closed during working hours only from Jan. 26, 2023 to March 31, 2023. Residents and businesses on these streets will be provided with detailed directions by RNV regarding as to when and how to access their property. Detour signs will be displayed to inform the traveling public of the restrictions.
CUC customers in the area may be asked by RNV to limit water use while individual sewer services are replaced, but will not experience any disruption to their power, water or wastewater services as a result of the work.
This project is part of the Sewer Main Replacement Phase II funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to provide a more reliable sewer system in the area. The transition work is in part of the decommissioning of the old sewer line and will replace with PVC pipe.
“CUC encourages the public to avoid these areas during construction and appreciates your cooperation in accommodating the traffic restrictions necessary to complete this critical infrastructure improvement project for our customers,” the CUC statement said.
