Bantalan Sugar Dock Beach ‘adopted’ by BSDI


The Bantalan Sugar Dock Inc. has adopted the Sugar Dock Beach in Chalan Kanoa to maintain.
The Saipan Mayor’s Office held an “Adopt-a-Place” ceremony last Friday morning at the wooden pavilion near the Sugar Dock, which was attended by Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, BSDI president Rose Camacho, BDSI members, and man’amko officials of the day, as part of the celebration of May as Mes Man’amko or Older Americans Month.
Former lawmaker Martin Ada, who is an adviser of the BSDI, thanked the Saipan Mayor’s Office for accepting their bid to adopt the place. in a later interview, he said the BSDI is still in its early stages, but “by adopting this area, it officialized our intentions to really do something for the community.”
He clarified that the Bantalan area has been adopted by two other organizations—the Saipan Lions Club and another Filipino club—”So now, we can share and collaborate with each other and beautify and improve our areas of responsibility.”
BSDI is a 3-year-old nonprofit group with about 50 members.
