On common sense parenting
The Issue: Why young parents must take “Common Sense Parenting” being offered by DYS.
Our View: It’s a good course given the difficulty of raising young kids to become responsible adults.
The Division of Youth Services is offering young parents a course on “Common Sense Parenting” to assist newly weds or single parents how to deal with the uncharted terrain of raising children.
It is a difficult task, a 24 hour task that calls for sacrifices on the part of young couples who have started their own families. The course gives young couples a better view of how both can contribute to raising a kid to become responsible adults later in life. Here’s what the program offers:
1. It is free and available for anyone in a parenting role.
2. Because parenting is a tough job.
3. Classes are offered in different languages and at convenient times.
4. It develops confidence in parents.
5. It helps reach family goals and improve relationships.
6. It promotes positive behavior in children.
7. It is culturally inclusive.
8. The classes are fun and taught by Girls and Boys Town USA certified trainers.
9. It teaches skills that are practical and easy to remember.
10. It is a proven step-by-step guide for raising responsible kids and building happy families.
The challenge of rearing children is a tough task. You’re dealing with a young mind whose future is as good as the discipline that is given that child. Each child deserves the opportunity of being reared by well poised parents. It is especially good for single mothers or newly weds who need to get an overview of what to expect as they deal with the needs of young children. We recommend that you take it.
