$2K worth of sports equipment at stake

The Division of Youth Services and Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will be awarding about $2,000 worth of sports equipment to schools with the most entrants in the PIC Hafa Adai 5K this Saturday.

Two schools in the elementary division and one each in the junior high and high school will each receive $500 worth of equipment.

Meanwhile, the 5K race this weekend has attracted around 380 runners and organizers are expected the number to go over 400 before the end of the week.

The Hafa Adai 5K will have participants passing through four coloring stations along the 5K route. Volunteers will celebrate each participant’s arrival with a splash of blue, yellow, pink, or red colored cornstarch. This biodegradable and non-toxic mixture will have participants laughing all the way from station to station.

Entry forms are available at the PIC front Desk and at Saipan Shell Stations. Entry fees are only $10 and the first 500 paid entries will receive a free limited edition event shirt. Proceeds from the Hafa Adai 5K will go to the CNMI Salvation Army. For more information, contact Dennis Tababa at or call 237-5147. (Saipan Tribune)
