$5K bail imposed on man accused of stealing chairs
The Superior Court has recently imposed a $5,000 cash bail on a man accused of stealing plastic chairs.
During a bail hearing last Monday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Clyde Thomas C. Sablan, a man accused of stealing plastic chairs from Kalayaan Inc. catering in San Antonio.
Sablan, 30, is facing charges of theft and burglary.
After his hearing, Sablan was remanded back to Department of Corrections’ custody and was ordered to return to court on June 12, 2024 for a preliminary hearing. Meanwhile his arraignment is set for June 17, 2024.
According to court documents, the theft incident was reported last May 30.
A local resident told police that she saw Sablan, who was living in a light brown typhoon tent next to her house, coming out of the tent with several plastic chairs.
The individual told her daughter to call the police and also instructed her daughter to take a photo of Sablan taking the plastic chairs and placing them at an abandoned house before walking away.
Later, a Kalayaan employee—in charge of the company’s kitchen equipment and familiar with the chairs—positively identified the seven chairs as owned by the company.
The employee also showed police the storage room that was broken into. He showed where the padlock door was pried open.
The employee said the plastic chairs were inside the storage room before they were stolen.
Sablan was later spotted by the police near the San Antonio Church. He was arrested and brought to Corrections for booking and detention.
