6.4-magnitude earthquake near Guguan
At 9:37pm on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook Guguan in the Northern Islands, according to the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Based on the information received from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operation Center, State Warning Point, there was no tsunami threat for the CNMI following the 6.4-magnitude temblor, which struck about 110 miles east of Guguan at a depth of 6 miles.
Guguan is located 250 nautical miles north from Saipan, 67 nautical miles northeast from Sarigan, and 30 nautical miles south from Alamagan.
