The President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities announces two new features of its Job Links service: the ability to tap into jobs available through staffing firms and the option to view employment opportunities by state. Job Links is a free Internet resource that allows employers to link, and individuals with disabilities to search, openings available across the nation.

Job Links currently lists more than 140 employers. For the first time, temporary and placement firms also are invited to take advantage of Job Links. In order to participate, a firm must maintain its own Website and advertise specific job openings, rather than list only job categories. The firm’s services must also be free of charge to job seekers.

Job Links employers are now organized by state, allowing visitors to the page to more easily focus a job search. Many participating employers, however, post job openings in multiple states. The address listed is often that of a company or organization’s headquarters.

Job Links is available through the home page of the President’s Committee’s Web site at www.pcepd.gov. Direct Internet links connect job seekers to the employment pages of participating employers and firms. New employers and firms that wish to be listed need only provide Web site and mailing address information for posting. A direct e-mail link is provided on the page for this purpose.

The President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities is a small federal agency based in Washington, DC. The Committee’s mission is to communicate, coordinate and promote public and private efforts to enhance the employment of people with disabilities. The Committee provides information, training and technical assistance to America’s business leaders, organized labor, rehabilitation and service providers, advocacy organizations, families and individuals with disabilities. It also operates the Job Accommodation Network (JAN), a toll-free information service on workplace accommodations and the employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
