Japanese found dead on Tinian

A 48-year-old Japanese was found dead Tuesday about a hundred feet outside the reef at the Laserino Beach on Tinian, police said.

According to a report, Hideko Koiki was last seen swimming and taking pictures underwater at the channel by the cave near the Laserino beach, where she was attending a barbecue party with her friends.

The victim’s body was transported to the Tinian Health Center and was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m.

Tourist losses cash

A Japanese tourist on Tuesday lost some 500,000 yen which he kept in a safety deposit box at the Hyatt Regency Saipan, according to a police report.

Police investigation showed that Akihisa Iwamoto deposited his pouch containing 1.1. million yen in the safe Monday evening. But Iwamoto claimed that he only discovered the missing amount the following day, Tuesday, when he sent a friend to retrieve his pouch.

Listed below are arrests made over the past 24 hours by the Department of Public Safety:

• Burt Camacho Suda, 31, for assault with dangerous weapon; 12:15 a.m.

• Nestor B. Dela Raco, 46, for criminal mischief and disturbing the peace, 1:09 a.m.

• Antonio Gan Quesada, Jr., 29, for theft; 4:00 a.m. He is accused of stealing a cordless microphone.

• A 14-year-old boy for attempting to burglarize a vehicle; 2:13 p.m.

• Edick Kin-Yee Wan, 49; Yui Soon Kim, 17; and a 14-year-old boy, for rioting at the Treasure Island parking lot in Western Garapan; 6:08 p.m.

• Hyun Ho Kim, 50, for reckless driving, DUI, and refusing to submit to breathalyzer test; 8:58 p.m.
