The safety deposit box isn’t safe

Three Japanese families who are staying at the Pacific Islands Club lost their money amounting to $2,400 and 360,000 yen in the hotel’s safety deposit box last Nov. 10, the police said.

According to a police report, the victims placed their money in the safety deposit box in one of the families’ room before going on a sightseeing trip.

Upon returning to the hotel, they discovered that all of their money had disappeared.

Arrested

Nov. 10, 1999

• Joseph Sablan Ada, 23, for driving without a license, speeding, had lamps and tail lights were off, reckless driving, refusal to submit to the breathalyzer test and DUI. He was arrested at 11:48 p.m..

Nov. 11, 1999

• Antonlin John Luck, 41, at 1:25 a.m., for assault and battery.

• Hiteto Que, 32, at 10:37 a.m., for assault and battery, child abuse, disturbing the peace and nuisance.

• Mitsue Morita, 30, at 2:35 p.m., for theft at the Duty Free Shop. Japanese tourist Morita allegedly took a shirt and a silver watch.

• Fukuji Haseyama, 61, at 6:38 p.m., for theft at the Duty Free Shop. The tourist allegedly took a plastic wristwatch.

• Eugene Blas Repeki, Jr., 21, at 10:51 p.m., for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer and his victim, and resisting arrest.
