5 killed in failed PNG bank robbery
PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea---Police shot and killed five gunmen Friday as they attempted to escape a failed bank robbery in Port Moresby aboard a helicopter.

Witnesses said the robbers were dressed in full military uniform and armed with high-powered weapons, including hand grenades.
Police fired at the men as they took off in the chopper from the roof of the Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation.
The helicopter crashed along the downtown waterfront, and the five men were killed in a shootout.
