Ex-senator's son changes plea

He appeared sorry for what he did as he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in connection with the assault and battery charges filed against him for attacking an MCV cameraman during a news coverage at the federal court in Horiguchi building in Garapan.

He appeared sorry for what he did as he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in connection with the assault and battery charges filed against him for attacking an MCV cameraman during a news coverage at the federal court in Horiguchi building in Garapan.

Herman Manglona Jr., who was then drinking a bottle of juice approached MCV cameraman Tony Cobb, spat on his face and his camera. The whole incident was captured by the camera.

Mr. Manglona was apparently irked at the media people covering the case of his father, former Sen. Manglona, who was then facing bribery charges at the U.S. District Court.

The former senator was later sentenced to two years imprisonment by U.S. District Court Judge Alex Munson in connection with charges of bribery and attempting to influence a grand jury.

Based on the plea agreement entered into between the Manglona Jr.’s counsel and Assistant Attorney General Marvin Williams, the court suspended the one year sentence on the younger Manglona and placed him under probation.

Judge Timothy Bellas ordered him to render 75 hours of community service in the next eight months and write an letter of apology to MCV news.
