CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK 2000 Lighting the Way to a New Century

Two weeks from now, Mount Carmel School will begin its Catholic Schools Week festivities. The event, which will be held on Jan. 30 through Feb. 5, is part of a nationwide celebration of the ways Catholic schools light the way to a new century.

Mount Carmel School is inviting the community to participate in the following activities:

Sunday, Jan. 30

CSW Kick-Off Mass at parishes

MCS students will facilitate mass in their respective parishes. They will assist with readings, presentation of gifts, ushering, and other mass roles.

Monday, Jan. 31

Road Rally

MCS students from grades 1 through 8 will stage a road-side rally where they’ll wave the morning commute. As part of the rally, time will be a wide display of banners expressing appreciation to various individuals and organizations that have contributed to Catholic education in the Commonwealth.

Tuesday, Feb. 1

Sister Remedios Moving-Up Day Crazy Hats Competition

Students from Mount Carmel School’s sister school, Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development Center, will visit first grade classrooms. The grade school student Council will facilitate a ‘Crazy Hats’ contest for the whole school.

Wednesday, Feb. 2

Faculty Appreciation Day

In recognition of all the efforts of the MCS faculty and staff, a Faculty/Staff Appreciation dinner will be held (time and location to be determined), In addition. high school students will “substitute’ for their teachers by delivering lectures, proctoring quizzes/tests, and taking on other teacher responsibilities. Lastly,
teachers will be dismissed early from school.

Thursday, Feb. 3

Parent Appreciation Day

Each student will write and deliver an appreciation letter to their parents.

Friday, Feb. 4

Family Night

The entire MCS family will gather on campus beginning at 6:00 p.m. for a wonderful evening of delicious, multi-ethnic food and a wide variety of entertainment from singing to dancing.
