Eucon holds after-school program
Eucon International junior high school students always look forward to two particular days of the week when EIS President Dr. Christian Wei, along with teachers and staff, take them for an around-the-island excursion after school hours.
Wednesdays and Saturdays after school, according to Dr. Wei, are usually reserved for off-campus recreational activities that enable students and teachers to unwind and recover from a hard school day’s work.
“In a way, we like to help out parents by keeping the children for several hours during those days so they can go about their errands and important stuff they need to take care of,” said the EIS president.
“We just go out and have a great time with the students,” he added.
Dr. Wei further said Eucon has instituted the after-school program to keep kids out of trouble and focused on wholesome activities.
On Wednesday afternoons, the group would usually trek to Mt. Tapochao, Banzai Cliff, Laolao Bay, and other scenic places Saipan is most famous for.
While they tour the island, adults and children engage in fun-filled games, developing a more comfortable relationship outside the pressures of school.
Every other weekend, the group also goes hiking and nature-tripping.
“The students’ parents are really seeing the difference . . . that just as much as we are strict in emphasizing education and learning, we also take time to balance the equation,” said Dr. Wei.
