DLNR provides plant vouchers
The Department of Lands & Natural Resources and the Division of Agriculture through funding from the Urban and Community Forestry Program are distributing $20.00 plant vouchers through out the whole month of October, to celebrate “ARBOR MONTH.”
Arbor month is held every October in the Commonwealth, and around the world. According to DLNR Spokeswoman Marianne Teregeyo, they have increased the amount of vouchers to 300. In previous years DLNR-DOA distributed only 150 vouchers, which doubled this year. Teregeyo says it gives 150 more people a chance to avail of the free voucher program.
Each volunteer entitles the recipient to $20.00 worth of free plants at participating island nurseries on Saipan (Calvo’s, Design/Build Landscape, DOA Forestry Nursery, Saipan Plant Center, Tropical Garden). You can pick any plant you want worth $20.00 or receive a $20.00 credit for plants exceeding the voucher’s $20.00 limit.
Vouchers can be picked up at the Division of Agriculture Forestry Nursery in Kagman. One voucher per household, each voucher expires on October 31st.
Teregeyo says, anyone interested in learning more about the voucher can contact Mr. Vic Deleon Guerrero at 256-3318.
