Student-Athletes of the Month
Minerva Cabrera — Swimming. Minerva, 11 years old and only in her second year of swimming, placed 6th in her age group for the High Point Trophy tally, swam in 5 events all in Personal Best Times, and placed in the top eight of her events in all but one, where she placed ninth. She swam her best meet to date. Minerva also competed in the All Kids Triathlon on February 24th. She is a student at WSR.
Micheal Camacho — Swimming. Micheal is 10 years old and a student at GCA. He won the High Point Trophy for the top 10 and unders in excellent times, four of the PB’s, and he also achieved A, AA, and AAA times. Mike won four events and placed forth in his fifth event. He also competed in the All Kids Triathlon.
Athlete of the Month
Tamiko Winkfield — Swimming. Tami easily won her five events by doing that, won the Senior High Point Trophy, swimming two personal Best Times and came within a second in her other three events. She also won her age group in the All Kids Triathlon.
Freddie Pelisamen — Basketball. Freddie plays for APC Co. Ltd. Brothers, and is the scoring leader in the ICBL with 37.8 points per game. He also carries an 3.0 avg. in assists, 5.0 in steals, and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Other nominees by their federations were John Sablan in Basketball for his outstanding play in the Fareast Basketball Tournament and the BANMI 22 and under league, and Dean Palacios for his outstanding swims and the 14 and under High Point Trophy in the Pentathlon Meet on Guam and competed in the All Kids Triathlon.
