Mayor gets award for peace
Saipan Mayor Jose C. Sablan has been presented by Japan's Soka Gakkai International Vice President Sasaki with a distinguished award on peace and friendship.
Saipan Mayor Jose C. Sablan has been presented by Japan’s Soka Gakkai International Vice President Sasaki with a distinguished award on peace and friendship.
VP Sasaki presented the award to Mr. Sablan on behalf of SGI President Saisaku Ikeda.
The award was bestowed to Mr. Sablan for his significant contributions to the promotion of world friendship and peace, as well as his deep understanding and approval of the SGI’s concept of humanism.
President Ikeda states that the goal and objective of the SGI is dependent on what “we begin to do right now, with a vision of courage and hope.”
It is the hope of SGI that an SGI Memorial Peace Garden be established on Saipan. The tentative date for the establishment of such a peace garden is set for May 6.
