At least six villages will be affected by a power outage tomorrow as the Commonwealth Utility Corporation conducts maintenance repairs on existing devices and install new electrical equipment.

In a statement released yesterday by the utility corporation, corporate communication special advisor Pamela Mathis said CUC workers will be dispatched to install new electrical equipment as part of the firm’s continuing maintenance program.

The utility personnel will also conduct maintenance repairs on existing devices, as well as replace rotten power poles.

Ms. Mathis said switches will be installed to allow CUC crews to turn on and off power supply in blocks as another crew performs maintenance on electrical switches that separate the grids.

Another team will replace rotten power poles located in two different areas.

Areas that will be affected by the power outage include: Chalan Kiya, Fina Sisu, San Vicente, Dandan Homestead, Airport, Koblerville and As Perdido.

Ms. Mathis explained that power switches will be turned of at exactly 12:30am to 4am to prevent accidents since works cannot be done when the high voltage wires are energized.

“Our teams are working simultaneously to conduct numerous maintenance tasks during a single power outage,” she added.
