Business workshop at NMC-SBDC
The Northern Marianas College-Small Business Development Center will hold a free business turnaround workshop on Tuesday, April 23, from 6pm to 9pm. The three-hour workshop is part of the College Month activities offered by the NMC.
Rik Villegas, Business, Hospitality, and Computer Technology Department chairman, will be the instructor. Villegas has worked with over 400 businesses in a 15-year period.
Villegas will share some simple strategies that can move a business from surviving to thriving, even in a slow economy. The first section of the workshop will discuss a model for personal and organizational change.
According to Villegas, “based upon surveys and discussions with over 100 turnaround experts, in eight out of 10 cases, the decline of a business is caused by internal factors. In other words, even though it is convenient to blame the economy for the current downturn, in 80 percent of the business situations the solution for change and improvement can be found within the business.”
In the second section of the workshop, participants will complete an assessment to determine their performance level in five strategic business areas. Then a simple concept developed by Villegas, called the Performance Enhancement Process, will be explained.
Villegas said the simple process will allow business owners to take better control of their business future, and realize improved performance, productivity, and profits.
Seating is limited, so interested individuals should contact Robert Suzuki at the SBDC at 235-1551 to reserve a spot.
