The CNMI Hawaiian Community Association has donated a $1,200 check to the CHC Volunteers Friday.

The donation was presented in a small ceremony in front of the CHC Volunteers Gift Shop by the Hawaiian Association president Sheldon Fernandez.

The donation will go to buy one of 17 chairs needed for the new Hemodialysis Unit, which is currently under construction. CHC volunteers are fundraising at the moment to purchase all 17 Hemodialysis chairs. They will be holding a raffle later this year to raise the balance of the funds needed for this latest project.

Secretary of Public Health James U. Hofschneider and Deputy Secretary for Hospital Administration Jack Taitano were on hand at the presentation ceremony, as well as Granya Shearer and Liz Untalan who represented the Hemodialysis Unit.

If any individual, organization or business would like to commit to the purchase of one of these Hemodialysis chairs, they can contact CHC Volunteers president Kim Prinz, or Rita Tenorio at 236-8363. Each chair, once installed will feature a plaque stating the name and/or organization of the donor.

“The CHC Volunteers would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the CNMI Hawaiian Community Association for this most generous donation,” the group said in a statement.
