CIC Tennis Classic gears up
Long baseline-to-baseline rallies and crosscourt forehand winners return to action at the Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach, as the Filipino-American Tennis Association again hosts the Century Insurance Co. Tennis Classic starting this June 24.
The 2004 CIC Tennis Classic offers a total of seven singles and eight doubles events. Men can enter in the singles open, 4.5, 4.0, 3.0, and 2.0 divisions, while women could play in the singles 4.0 and 3.0.
For doubles, men can compete in the 5.0, 4.5, 4.0 or 3.0 classes. Women, meanwhile, can choose to play serve-and-volley in the 5.0 and 3.0 divisions. Mixed doubles play is limited to 5.0 and 4.0.
FILATA has scheduled the doubles events on the first week of competition, from June 25 to 27. Singles events will be played during the second week of the tournament from July 2 to 5.
Entry forms are available at the CIC Ltd. Office, Dai-Ichi Hotel front desk, American Memorial Park tennis courts bulletin board, and Las Vegas Golf & Tennis Discount. Forms can also be downloaded at www.filatasaipan.cjb.net.
Entry fee per event is $8 for FILATA members and $15 for non-members. Registration fee includes tournament t-shirt courtesy of CIC and ticket to the awards banquet.
Deadline for submission of entry forms and payment is on June 18, Friday, at 5pm. Tournament directors Eli Buenaventura, Manny Po, Alex Martin, Art Lopez, and Hector Gutierrez can accept entry forms from interested players.
The draw date of the tournament schedule is on June 21, Monday, at 7pm. The draws will be posted at the AMP tennis courts bulletin board. A copy will also be uploaded on the FILATA website.
