A display of community support and family love
It was a beautiful display of community and family support as over 200 people packed the Music for the Heart benefit concert last Saturday at the Garapan Central Park in Garapan.
The venue was filled with live music from the Los Lobos, Kingz and Dreamers, the Sugarking Band, and Tatz and Jay Selepeo, and there were food and drink vendors, raffles, and more, but many individuals attending said they were there with their families to show love and support for Amber Mendiola-Romolor, for whom the concert was held to raise funds for her medical referral.
The outpouring of support for Mendiola-Romolorn was clearly evident when she and her family took the stage to perform and a loud cheer erupted. The vibe remained electric throughout their performance.
Prior to her performance, Mendiola-Romolor thanked the community, sponsors, and her family and friends for their support and for showing up. “I want to say thank you! This is really a very great turnout, and I’m so grateful for the all support,” she said.
Mendiola-Romolor’s mother, Erlynn Sakisat, was touched by the community’s response and moved by how her family rose to the challenge and joined together to pull off the event.
“The proudest moment of my life was watching my babies perform all together. My husband and I are so very proud of them! Being on stage with my husband and all my babies was a moment I will treasure forever really,” she said.
Mendiola-Romolor and Sakisat thanked event sponsors KKMP and TurnKey Solutions, as well as “Rico the Magic Soundman” and all of the families and friends who showed their support and took part in the event.
“…Just seeing how much amazing support is being given, not just to me but to everyone else out there…there’s so much love and I really appreciate all the love,” she said.
The concert started at 6pm and lasted close to 11pm, before the event wrapped up as Mendiola-Romolor had to be rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center. Saipan Tribune reached out to her family and they shared that she was still hospitalized at the moment and they are keeping faith. They are asking for the community’s prayers through this time.
