ACS, GCA, SIS, TMS advance to badminton playoffs
The Top 2 teams in all three brackets advanced to the playoffs after their final round-robin matches in the 2024-2025 PSS-NMBA Interscholastic Co-ed Middle School Badminton League last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The six teams that made it to the playoffs are Agape Christian School Torchbearers 2 and Saipan International School 1 from Bracket 1; ACS 1 and Grace Christian Academy Eagles 1 from Bracket 2; and Tanapag Middle School Tatagas and GCA 2 from Bracket 3.
Bracket 1’s Top 2 teams showed off their exemplary skill throughout the season as they both nearly swept all their matches with 19 points and wins each.
ACS 2 gained their last three wins over Saipan Community School in the boys singles/doubles and mixed doubles events. Meanwhile, SIS 1 won three events over ACS 2 to tie it up with them atop the standings with 19 points.
A distant third place is Hopwood Middle School 2 at 11; Tinian Jr. High School 1 at 10; Dandan Middle School has nine; and SCS at seven.
In Bracket 2, ACS remains dominant as ACS 1 also boasts a 19-win record; GCA 1 has 13; HMS 1 are at nine; SIS 2 has eight; and Chacha Ocean View Middle School record one win.
ACS 1 took on SIS 2 and cashed in a sweep of all five events in the girls/boys singles/doubles and mixed doubles event.
As for Bracket 3, the Tatagas lead with 16 points, followed by the Eagles at 11. Francisco M. Sablan Middle School Napu Riders are at nine; Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr./ Sr. High School has eight; and Dandan Middle School Tottots have five.
The Tatagas collected just two wins over GCA 2 in the boys doubles and girls singles, but it was still enough to retain the top spot in their bracket.
The Top 6 double-elimination round is on Nov. 23, with the championship rounds on Nov. 29.
