Annual Turkey Trot set for Nov. 28

Give thanks and trot your way up Saipan’s highest peak in the Northern Marianas Athletics’ Mt. Tapochau Turkey Trot 2024 on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24.

The traditional and annual race is kicking off at 6am at Lower Base.

Frozen turkeys await the fastest male and female runners in each age group.

Registration on https://raceroster.com/events/2024/94525/mt-tapochao-turkey-trot-2024 for adults is $10, while it’s $5 for 18 years and below.

Run Saipan president Edward Dela Cruz Jr., whose club is helping organize the running event, said they are expecting over 100 runners to tackle the 4.2-mile uphill run. “There are many who have made it a family tradition for over 40 years or so,” he said.

Submit your photo during the race for a chance to win the “Favorite photo” award. Tag and follow @nmiathletics on Facebook and Instagram.

Last year, student athlete Victor Nash Santos won first place overall with a time of 39:48:88, while Dr. Lily Muldoon was the fastest in the women’s division at 44:46.38.

The 2024 Turkey Trot is sponsored by Run Saipan, Joeten Enterprises, IT&E CNMI, Triple J Group of Companies, MARPAC, and Saipan Vegas Resort.

Turkey Trot 2022 participants run out of the starting area on their way up to Mt. Tapochau.
