Antoni Ogumoro ranks high nationally on rivals.com
CNMI son Antoni Kade Ogumoro is continuing to tear up the gridiron, even after a change of high schools, and is ranked high amongst other athletes in the website, rivals.com.
Rivals.com is a network of websites that focus mainly on college football and basketball recruiting in the United States, with Antoni rated a 3-star athlete; the No. 1 Offensive Tackle in the State; the No. 10th ranked player regardless of position in the State of Oklahoma; and the 48th Offensive Tackle in the Nation.
Antoni and family moved to Oklahoma from North Carolina last November because of his dad, Ambrose’s U.S. Marine duties. The 6’5” and 290-lb left tackle and defensive lineman is currently finishing up his junior year in Elgin High School, Oklahoma.
Since their move, the rising football star has steadily gained interest and college offers from more schools around the nation.
He currently has 13 offers from Old Dominion University, North Carolina State University, East Carolina University, University of North Carolina, Duke University, Coastal Carolina University, University of Cincinnati, University of Tennessee, Virginia Tech University, Tulsa University, Iowa State University, University of Houston, and Oklahoma State University.
Along with keeping up with football and studies, and adjusting well to his new environment, Antoni has recently partnered with Founders Designs as their first High School NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) Athlete. They partnered up last month with Antoni promoting their business/brand, and are currently selling his merchandise brand “Head Down, Grind On,” which is a saying between Antoni and his father.
Ambrose said that “Head Down, Grind On” was inspired “by [Antoni’s] grit and attitude towards his goals that no matter what adversity or hype comes your way, keep your head down and focused on your goals, stay grounded and grind it out no matter what to reach your highest potential.”
Antoni, for his part, said he is adjusting “easily” in his new school. “The people are nice and very welcoming.” As for how he feels being ranked highly in the nation, he said, “Just grateful to be in the position I’m in. To see me being ranked nationally for the position I play just means I have a privilege, which means bigger things are going to be expected of me. Still got a lot to learn but I got an amazing group of people that I surround myself with who will make that job much easier.”
With senior year and his last hoorah in his high school career coming up, he said, “Going into my senior year I’m really just looking forward to staying healthy and having an amazing season with my teammates. The goal is to make it to state and win the state championship but for now we are just working on our craft during this off season.”
