The CNMI Broadband Policy & Development Office announced the launch of the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program, an important program by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. This program aims to bridge the digital divide and promote digital inclusion throughout the United States and its territories, including the Northern Mariana Islands. What is the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program?
The Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program focuses on promoting large-scale social and economic change by centering on digital equity, digital inclusion, and digital literacy among covered populations. This program supports projects that ensure everyone in our community has the tools and skills to fully participate in the digital economy, enhancing access to information, opportunities, and services.
How can we use the funds?
Organizations in the Northern Mariana Islands can use these funds for:
Teaching digital skills: Programs to help people learn how to use computers and the internet.
Improving internet access: Projects to bring better internet to areas that currently have poor or no service.
Providing devices: Giving or lending computers, tablets, and other devices to people who need them.
Training and support: Offering training on digital skills, online safety, and preventing online harassment.
Building computer centers: Setting up or improving community centers where people can access computers and the internet.

Interested organizations are encouraged to apply for the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program. Applications can be submitted through the NTIA’s online portal. Here are the key steps:
