Aric Cruz tops Intermediate Class

Youngster Aric Cruz topped the Intermediate Class of last Sunday’s race in the 2024 “MOTO IV” Points Race Series at the Cowtown Race Park.

The 17-year-old Saipan Southern High School student won both heats for a perfect score of 50 points in Marianas Racing Association’s March competition. Vicente Palacios and Charles Cepeda completed the Top 3 with 44 points and 40 points, respectively.

“It was a fun race although it was a hot and not windy day. I’m glad to be putting the Yamaha up front. Honestly, I want to dedicate this race to the Lord for providing me with what I have and receive. I want to also thank my family and friends for the support especially my father and my mother for gifting me my new 2024 Yamaha Yz250f,” said Cruz.

He also thanked his sponsors RPM Yamaha Guam, Marpac, Ina’s Kitchen, YCO Hardware, Marianas Native, ChokeChain, TurnKey Solutions, Winners Hardware, and PacificLine Construction.

Cruz got his riding chops from no other than his father, MRA president and former three-time Expert Class champion Ellery Cruz.

“He’s the one who taught me everything!” he said.

In the Mini II Class, T.J. Ferrer made it 2-for-2 so far in the season after another perfect score of 50 points. Calix Cruz was second with his 44 points.

In the Women’s Class, Billie Inabo Pangelinan won both heats for 50 points to top the division, followed by Mari Alvarez and Merissa Rasa with 44 points and 22 points, respectively.

Results of the other divisions of the March race will be published in the next issues of Saipan Tribune.
