Audie leads 3 categories in BASA
Sufa’s slugger Audie Maratita leads the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association in batting average, home runs, and RBIs as of May 5.
Maratita barely misses what’s pitched at him as he went 30 hits out of 43 at-bats for a .698 batting average. Second in Peliliu’s Cartfield Sablan who went 33 for 48 at-bats for a .688 average, while third is S.R. Matsutaro from Asahi with 29 connections in 45 plate appearances for a .644 average.
Maratita also hit the most home runs with 11, while second was Ben Hocog with 9. Joey Dela Cruz, Jerome Delos Santos, Manny Sablan, and Pat Deleon Guerrero hit 8 dingers of their own.
In the runs batted in category, Maratita is in first place with 35 RBIs. Second is Cartfield Sablan with 33, while Manny Sablan is at 29, and Deleon Guerrero is at 28.
The most doubles hit was Joe Lizama with 10; Delos Santos hit 9; Maratita, John Taitano, Jason Reyes, and Jerry Guerrero hit 8 each.
Clint Quitugua, Glenn Camacho, and Suo Matsutaro are tied for the most triples at 3 each, while seven other players are tied with 2.
The most runs scored is Mark Toves at 26, while Paul Salalila, John Terlaje, and Derek Aguon are at 25 each. Five other players are tied with 24 each.
Over on the bump, the pitching leader is Sufa’s Kallie Igisomar who pitched nine games, a total of 45.2 innings, and has a 5.575 ERA, with 36 earned runs, and a 7-2 win/loss record. Second is Asahi’s Dom Hideo with a 6.816 ERA and 74 ER, in 13 games and 76 innings pitched. He has an 11-2 record. Hagu La’mun’s Openg Celis takes the third spot with an ERA of 6.918, 84 ER, pitched in 13 games and 85 innings, and has a 10-3 record.
The most strikeouts was made by Leo Bobai with 41. Guerrero is right behind with 40, while Celis has 28, and Jojo Attao and Hideo are tied with 26.
In the team standings, Asahi led with 13 wins and 2 losses; Man Amigos were at 12-3; Hagu La’mun was at 11-4; Sufa were 10-5; Tokahao, Peliliu, and Wazzup were at 7-8; Redmen had a 4-11 record; Tuturamz were 3-12; while Saipal were down in the dumps at only one win and 14 losses.
