BDE hands Lady Blue Jays’ first loss, 5-2

Team BDE handed the defending champs Lady Blue Jays their first loss, 5-2, in the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association women’s division last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.

The Lady Blue Jays came into this season with some new players in their lineup and as of late has struggled to produce runs. They scored their only two runs in the first inning by Destiny Pangelinan and in the fourth inning by Kiana Camacho.

Meanwhile, BDE scored one in the first inning from Kona Tudela and they quickly took the lead in the third inning with runs scored by Oly Fritz, Tudela, and Iggy to make it 4-1.

Both teams actually struggled in the fifth and sixth inning as they went scoreless, but the Lady Blue Jays couldn’t rally against BDE pitcher Jovie Omar. BDE scored one more in the fifth and the Lady Blue Jays went down in order in their last at-bat for a 5-2 final.

In other results, the 670 Magas Babes defeated Lady Sufa, 14-4. The Babes overpowered Lady Sufa from the second inning when they tied the game up, 2-2.

Lady Sufa’s Bong Babauta scored the third run in the third inning and Angela Muna scored the last run in the fourth, and that was all they wrote. In contrast, the Babes piled on the runs as they scored three in the third, five in the fifth, and three more in the last inning.

Lastly, Bat & Boujee scraped past Boleras, 13-12. Boleras blew their 12-2 lead when Bat & Boujee went on to rally in the fourth inning. Bat & Boujee pitcher Janice Celis started off their offensive when she scored and ended with a run by Virlie Secharmidal.

Bat & Boujee didn’t stop there and went on to score five more runs, which was just enough to win by one as the Boleras bats went silent for the rest of the game.
