Charges against Villanueva dismissed

The charges against a woman who was allegedly involved in a robbery at San Antonio beach over a week ago have been dismissed.

During a preliminary hearing yesterday, the Superior Court dismissed without prejudice. the case filed against Juanita Villanueva, but the Office of the Attorney General was given the opportunity to refile the charges against Villanueva if more evidence comes to light to prosecute her.

Villanueva was initially charged with robbery, principals and robbery, conspiracy and robbery, and theft.

As of press time, the Department of Public Safety remains on the lookout for Villanueva’s co-conspirators who have yet to be identified.

Villanueva was one of three individuals allegedly involved in robbing a man at gunpoint last Oct. 15.

According to court documents, police responded last Oct. 15 to theft report made by a man who claimed he had been robbed.

The following day, Oct. 16, detective Joey Lizama met with the victim, Melecio Molina, during which he said that Villanueva had contacted him over 10 times on Oct. 15 asking him for money. Sometime after 7pm, he said he picked Villanueva up at the parking area across Pacific Islands Club Saipan. He noted that he saw her exit a black SUV-type car before coming over to his car.

However, sometime later, the victim said Villanueva refused to follow him to his house so they, instead, drove to the northernmost part of San Antonio beach just behind FMS where they reportedly had sex.

After that, the victim told police that he noticed car lights approaching his vehicle, during which Villanueva rushed him to give her money.

As he tried to do so, Molina said the car pulled up behind his vehicle and he noticed it was a black, SUV-like car. A minute later, a woman came up to the passenger side window.

Moments later, the victim said a man was at his window, pointing a pistol to his head and demanding that he give them money.

He noted that, as he was getting money from his wallet, the man grabbed the entire wallet, which contained debit and credit cards, $310, and his identification cards.

Later, Villanueva allegedly exited his vehicle and took with her his car keys and his bag, which contained his other car keys.
