DB Media inks 2nd radio station in past 6 months
Friends and business partners David Hood and Bob Webb, owners of DB Media, recently received approval from the Federal Communication Commission to purchase their second radio station, Power 99 FM, after obtaining approval last July to purchase KZMI 103.9 FM. The two radio stations have a combined 75 years of operation in the CNMI.
This story starts like many throughout history…a guy walks in a bar. Almost 10 years ago Hood and Webb met on a typical Saipan weeknight in Godfather’s Bar. It’s a slow night but Jerry and the band are kicking it like it’s a packed house. The two absolute strangers strike up a casual conversation mostly because there is no one else to talk to and here we are almost 10 years later, they are now co-owners of Saipan’s two most listened to radio stations, KZMI 103.9 and Power 99.
Their mission now is to bring fun back into Saipan radio. they are already planning on hiring new morning and afternoon drive talents, also engineering improvements that will make the two stations stand apart from the competition.
Hood said “as for the format I see no drastic changes in either station as both have built up an extremely loyal audience over the last 40 years.” (PR)
