DPS sets car seat, occupant protection checkpoints today
Aiming to ensure road safety across the islands, the CNMI Department of Public Safety will be conducting a series of Occupant Protection/Child Restraint checkpoints today, May 31, at Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, Chalan Kiya, Chalan Pale Arnold, and Chalan Lau Lau.
The first checkpoints will be from 5pm to 6:15pm. DPS will set up on Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, Chalan Kiya, targeting the westbound lane near CUC Waterloo.
Following this, a second checkpoint will be established on Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Lau Lau, on the southbound lane by Ambyth Shipping, running from 7:30pm to 8:45pm.
Each checkpoint will operate for 75 minutes, strategically placed to maximize coverage and efficiency. The primary objective of these checkpoints is to enforce proper seat belt and child car seat usage on the highways.
In line with DPS’ commitment to road safety, these scheduled checkpoints serve to detect, deter, and identify any instances of improper seat belt or child car seat usage. Motorists are urged to comply with all traffic regulations and safety measures to ensure the well-being of themselves and their passengers.
