Docomo Pacific sponsors Guam’s 42nd Japan Autumn Festival

TAMUNING, Guam—Docomo Pacific, the regional leader in innovation, telecommunications, and entertainment, sponsors the 42nd Annual Japan Autumn Festival tomorrow, Nov. 18, 2023, at the Joseph Flores Beach Park (formerly Ypao Beach Park).

The Japan Club of Guam is celebrating its 51st anniversary this year. The Aki Matsuri (Japan Autumn Festival), JCG’s signature event since 1976, is one of the most popular events in Guam and has been attended by tens of thousands of Guam residents and visitors every year.

In celebration of the beauty of autumn, the event will showcase the features of both Chamorro and Japanese cultures such as cultural performances, demonstrations, culinary tasting, the arts, and exhibitions.

“The theme for this year is ‘繋ぐ’ (pronounced ‘tsunagu’), which translates to ‘to connect’ in English,” said Tadashi Gonda, chairman of the Japan Club of Guam. “Our goal is to establish connections with future generations to ensure that strong relationships among our communities are maintained. Thank you, Docomo Pacific for continuing to bridge communities by supporting this year’s festival.

Docomo Pacific said in a news release yesterday that it is proud to support the JCG’s Aki Matsuri event once again “because we believe in the power of cultural connections and community enrichment.

“As a company deeply rooted in diversity, we recognize the significance of events like Aki Matsuri in fostering understanding, appreciation, and unity on our island. Our commitment to supporting this celebration stems from our belief that cultural exchange strengthens the bonds that make our community vibrant and resilient. Through our partnership, we aim to contribute to the shared experiences that define our island home and ensure a legacy of cultural richness for generations to come,” the news release stated.

The Autumn Festival’s proceeds will be contributed and donated to the Japanese School of Guam.
