Docomo Pacific unveils new call center

Docomo Pacific held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open its new call center yesterday morning at the company’s parking lot in Gualo Rai.

The event was attended by Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, Senate President Edith DeLeon Guerrero (D-Saipan), House Speaker Edmund Villagomez (Ind-Saipan), and special assistant for Broadband Policy and Development Glen Hunter.

Docomo Pacific CEO and president Christine Baleto, being the first Chamorro to serve as the head of the company, expressed her commitment to the CNMI and its culture and people.

“I am rooted in the love of our islands, our culture, and most especially our people today. It’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter of rebuilding our business with our people, for our people. The future we have chartered is one brimming with hope and opportunity, an unwavering commitment to our island. As the new CEO, I am driven by a deep belief that we are truly better together. Today that belief comes to life as we launch our newly established call center operations.”

Baleto added that it is a symbol of Docomo Pacific’s dedication to bring their customers closer to the heart of the community as they will continue to connect with the same friendly and familiar associates they have come to know and trust in their stores.

According to Baleto five of the 10 hired call center associates or agents were former Hyatt Regency Saipan employees who they recruited during the Department of Labor job fair last June. The call center workforce will be bringing valuable experience and a spirit of service.

Baleto commended her team who worked diligently to open the call center within a three-month timeframe.

“I would like to acknowledge our team who undertook a herculean effort to get this call center open when I made the request. I gave them three months and they delivered.”

Docomo Pacific plans to expand its call center in the next couple of years, creating over 50 new jobs in the CNMI.

Apatang said in his message that Docomo Pacific opening its new call center is like an early Christmas present for the CNMI as it provides employment opportunities for the local people.

“We’ve been talking about this call center for a while and today it became a reality. On behalf of Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and I, and all the people of the Commonwealth, thank you. Si yu’us ma’asi for opening up your doors in creating more opportunities for some of our people.”

Brent DeLeon Guerrero, Docomo Pacific brand manager, served as the emcee of the ceremony and said that the event highlights the company’s commitment to supporting local and small businesses.

He added that even the companies that provided refreshments for the event are 100% local, namely Tupu Cane Juice and Ina’s Kitchen.

Belato said in the interview that the call center is designed to cater to those who are seeking information on Docomo products and services. Docomo Pacific being the only quad player in the Marianas, offers mobile, fixed network which is the internet, cable, and desk phones.

She also mentioned that the company aims to establish a customer service operation that caters to a global clientele that’s why their call center staff undergo extensive training to handle diverse customer issues and provide localized support.

Brent DeLeon Guerrero encouraged the community to apply, adding that their job openings will be posted on their social media and in the Docomo career center and applicants can apply online. He added that the call center agent position is entry-level, but more positions will soon be available.
