Earth Day Mini Night Market at CK on April 22
It’s not only a celebration of Mother Mature, but the Earth Day Mini Night Market this April 22 will also be a showcase of CNMI local businesses and non-profits.
Local Girls Marianas’ Ashley Pangelinan and Tiara Deleon Guerrero said the event will be held from 5pm-9pm at the Saipan and Northern Islands Leadership Kiosku across the U.S. Post Office in Chalan Kanoa. It will feature seven non-profit info booths, 19 vendors, and entertainment from local band Da Kine, resident rap artist Jordan Paradise, Tipiyew Bwiibwis, and Cultural Production Inc.
“It’s definitely Earth-centered this time and we’re trying to recommend to all the vendors to highlight something eco-friendly, or even like Earth-designed, or just Earth-themed,” said Deleon Guerrero.
She and Pangelinan added that the CNMI’s very own Miss Earth, Jan Zowie Cruz, will be the mistress of ceremony and along with the vendors info booths and entertainment, there will also be a raffle drawing.
Another feature of the evening will be the book signing from master navigator and author Lino Olopai. Those interested are to bring their own copy of his book The Rope of Tradition, which he will be signing that night.
“I know that it’s going to be right after the Flame Tree Arts Festival, but I still hope some members of the community can join us for the event,” said Pangelinan.
Non-profit booths that will be there include Marianas Islands Nature Alliance, Boonie Babies, Coastal Resources Management, Friends of the Marianas Trench, Come Play With UsPet Services, the Northern Marianas College- Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service, and Saipan Kitten and Cat Rescue.
Earth Day Mini Night Market’s vendors, meanwhile, are Kiara’s Garden, Caluti Club, Candle J. Saipan, Thai Plant Lady by Mei, Tanny’s Crafts, Will and Eb’s Tropic Threads, Local Girls Lemonada, JB’s Creative Corner, Tropic Treats 670, CocoBear Cookies, Isla Krafty Corner, HolyMac’s Custom French Macarons, Islandry 670, Lei’s with LoVee, Tahine’s Creation, NMI Artistry and Designs, Nature Treasures, Paopao, Cherry Moon Co., Coconut Fresh Drink, and Marianas Nature.
For food, Pangelinan said Kada Dia vendors have agreed to open late to serve hungry customers of the Earth Day Mini Night Market.
Deleon Guerrero and Pangelinan extend a warm invitation for community members to grab their reusable bags (there’s no plastic bags at the Earth Day Mini Night Market) and head on down for a very special night.
