Falcons, Blue Jays take flight in SBL
The Falcons and Blue Jays took flight in the 2024 Tan Holdings-SBL after they defeated their foes last Wednesday and Thursday.
The Falcons first bested the Bears, 8-4, last Wednesday.
The fourth-inning explosion by the Falcons’ offense was the last nail in the coffin as the Bears could not retaliate. It was a tied game, 3-3, at the end of the third, and with both teams being evenly matched, it was still anyone’s game.
The Falcons’ bottom of the order from M.J. Aldan and Henry Iguel gave them the boost they needed in the fourth as they first scored two runs. The top of the lineup with A.J. Evangelista kept the ball rolling and scored as well for a 6-3 lead.
Henry Aguon and Benen Iguel would then score the last two runs and sit on a five-run lead, 8-3, heading into the fifth.
The Falcons’ pitching staff dug in and pulled off the save as they gave up just one run in the sixth. They went on to leave runners stranded and struck out the last two batters to clinch their third straight win.
In the Blue Jays vs. White Sox game, the Blue Jays soared to a 14-4 win last Thursday.
It was a productive night for the middle and bottom of the Blue Jays lineup as they scored back-to-back runs throughout the game.
Despite first dibs by the White Sox in the first inning, by the end of the second, the Blue Jays scored five runs for a 5-2 lead.
The Blue Jays continued to keep the bat on the ball and scored three more runs in the third inning for an 8-2 game. The White Sox’ struggles at the plate continued but managed to squeeze in a run in the fourth from a passed ball. One more run would score later to make it 4-8.
That was all she wrote, however, as the Blue Jays ace Kevin Kapileo shut them down in the last two innings.
The Blue Jays then scored five more in the fourth, and added one in the sixth for a 14-4 final and grabbed their second win.
Blue Jays’ Frankie Lieto recorded three hits from four at-bats, had a double, and scored two runs, while teammate Chris George went two-for-two and scored one run.
In other results last Tuesday, the Padres clubbed the D-9er’s, 7-1, and last Monday, the Cardinals pummeled the Royals, 13-2.
